Quick Cup Kettle
August 05 2007
3 second cuppa! A fantastic new eco-kettle that can save up to £30 a year
There is now a kitchen gadget that can serve up a cuppa quicker than you can full a kettle! The kettle is called ‘Quick Cup’ and it has a unique design. The revolutionary water filter works at the push of a button! When the button is pressed, water is filtered up through a spiral that has a heating element and so the water is heated immediately.
You stand your cup underneath like the self-service machines you see, and apparantly can hold the red button down for longer if you need more water. There is also a black button if you want to add cool filtered water.
Tefal say that normal ketles take around two and a half minutes to boil, whereas the Quick cup takes three seconds! The kettle provides enough water for one drink and so saves us from wasting energy. The manufacturers claim that it saves up to 65% of the energy used for a standard kettle. Even better news is that it is estimated to save households more than £30 per year on electricity bills!
Although the kettle 'boils' the water only reaches 95 degrees instead of 100 degrees, and this may not please everyone - some people feel that water really needs to boil to get a good cuppa! As the kettle has filtered water, the filters need to be changed (I believe every three months, although you would need to check this out) and these cost £12. Although if you like filtered water, this is not much different to buying filters for your water filter, and you do not need to buy two items!
