Give An Eco Present
November 02 2007
Give an Eco Present
I went to a lovely Christmas Fayre the other day and it was delightful. I was disappointed to find, however, that there were no eco-friendly products, no locally sourced natural delights, just pretty things made in the east or choccies made with flavourings and additives (the exact nature of which were not known!).
I had hoped to buy lots of my Christmas gifts there, but unfortunately could not find even one! Perhaps this seasonal occasion has not caught up with the rest of the year?
An original thoughtful present, that is also good for the environment, can be just as pleasurable to give and receive as a glitzy box of shiny something!
Here are some suggestions to make life a little easier for all you busy shoppers!
1. Solar powered gadget – good for people on the go, power for your iPod or mobile phone
2.Home-made jams, preserves or pies. Make your own personal label!
3. Pay for a month’s veggie box for someone to be delivered in January
4. Choose natural wooden toys for children – there are some great ones around
5. Buy Fairtrade trainers – Fair Deal Trading have some funky ones!
6. Organic Bodycare products – how delicious! Look good, feel good and no man-made nasties! Try UK Essential Care or Spieza,
7. Home-made Liqueur – for the grown ups! Add damsons or other fruit to gin, vodka or spirit of your choice. Absolutely delicious!
8. Buy someone a reusable cotton carrier bag. SUSU Organic have a cute one!
9. If you want a practical pressie – buy eco-friendly toiletries and household products from The Green Box Shop (check out their new Christmas pressies!) or an eco-friendly energy saving kettle. Specially reduced price on SUSU Organic .
10. For the person that has everything – perhaps a charitable donation for those who need it most?
Wishing you love and health
